Kansas family care providers unite for quality care

My daughter and I moved to Kansas 22 years ago. I know that my years of experience can help families just entering the system get the assistance and resources that we struggled to find. That is why I’m joining Kansas Care Providers for Action. With the hundreds of thousands of home care workers in SEIU Healthcare, we have the strength to win the real improvements our loved ones and people with disabilities need.
Tired of service cutbacks and a home care system that’s out of touch
with consumers’ needs, hundreds of Kansas family care providers are
uniting with Kansas Care Providers for Action for a stronger voice for
quality home care for people with disabilities.
Every day, family care providers provide essential home care services to keep people with disabilities living independently. For many years, Kansas families have faced the challenges of the state’s home care system alone, while also seeing other services for people with disabilities cut back.
Family care providers are uniting in Kansas Care Providers for Action—a part of SEIU Healthcare— to advocate for system-wide improvements that will benefit consumers and workers alike.
Family care providers are already making a difference in Kansas. Providers held a press conference in June to draw attention to the challenges that home care consumers and providers face.
Last legislative session, providers started calling on elected officials to invest in quality home care by funding healthcare and transportation pay for the home care workforce. The measure passed with unanimous support in the Senate, but the House took no action.
